Dr. Timothy D. Hodge, DVM
Dr. Timothy Hodge, DVM, is the owner and Chief Veterinary Officer of Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre. As a highly accomplished veterinarian, Dr. Hodge brings more than 30 years of clinical veterinary experience to Cross Creek, along with a deep passion for providing unmatched medical care to companion animals.
Dr. Hodge earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995 and has been practicing in the North Tampa region ever since. His lifelong commitment to medical innovation, continuing education, and compassionate patient advocacy has enabled him to deliver life-saving care for thousands of patients throughout his career.
When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Hodge loves to read, travel and enjoy great food and wine.
Commitment to Independent Veterinary Medicine and Holistic Care
Dr. Hodge is a staunch champion of independently owned, locally operated veterinary medicine. He firmly believes that community animal hospitals should remain in the hands of local doctors who prioritize long-term patient outcomes and tailored care over corporate metrics.
Driven by this philosophy, Dr. Hodge currently provides foundational leadership and clinical direction to two Tampa Bay area veterinary practices: Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre and Harbourside Animal Hospital. Across both practices, he serves the communities of New Tampa, Wesley Chapel, downtown Tampa, Channelside, and surrounding areas.
Through independent practice ownership, Dr. Hodge believes that patients can receive more personalized, thoughtful care that encompasses their entire health and well-being. His clinical approach combines both conventional diagnostics and treatments with appropriate complementary care, often leading to more positive long-term health outcomes.
Experience and Professional Interests
Dr. Hodge’s professional experience spans the gamut of small animal medicine and surgery. He takes pride in remaining up to date on emerging veterinary treatments and technology across diagnostics, veterinary care, and surgical procedures.
Dr. Hodge also has in-depth experience across preventive medicine, dermatology, internal medicine, cardiology, and integrative and holistic veterinary care. He holds the conviction that prevention is the best cure, and advocates for early screening and tailored wellness protocols to help companion animals live happy, healthy lives. Patients often seek out Dr. Hodge for complex dermatology, internal medicine, and cardiology conditions, including acute and chronic diseases.
He is also skilled in acupuncture and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine, having received specialized training through Chi University (formerly Chi Institute) in Reddick, FL.

Outside of daily clinical operations, Dr. Hodge enjoys using his professional writing experience to advocate for animal welfare and client education. He publishes quarterly print articles in “The New Barker,” a lifestyle magazine for dogs and their owners. He has also written educational guest posts for websites such as Rover.com to contribute to community literacy regarding pet health.
When he is not writing or practicing medicine, Dr. Hodge loves to read, travel, and enjoy great food and wine.
